Overview

Ready to become the indispensable financial backbone of any business? This course is your complete, practical foundation in bookkeeping, designed to take you from beginner to professional. You will master the essential skills required to manage a business's daily transactions, payroll, and tax returns.

This qualification is perfect for school leavers, working adults seeking a career change, and entrepreneurs who want full control over their business finances.

Core Modules: Learn By Doing
The course is structured around four intensive modules, ensuring you gain hands-on competence in every vital aspect of bookkeeping:

1. Bookkeeping to Trial Balance (BKTB)
The Foundation: This is where you learn the core language of finance. You will master how to record transactions, process source documents, manage journals, reconcile bank accounts, and complete the bookkeeping cycle up to the Trial Balance. This module is the essential building block for every bookkeeper.

2. Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns (PMSR)
Essential Compliance: Every company needs precise payroll management. You will gain practical skills in calculating salaries, wages, and mandatory deductions (like UIF and PAYE), and learn how to complete and submit the required monthly returns to SARS (South African Revenue Service). This makes you immediately valuable in the workplace.

3. Computerised Bookkeeping (CPBK)
Digital Competence: Move beyond manual ledgers. This module trains you on industry-standard accounting software, ensuring you are proficient in capturing data, performing electronic reconciliations, and generating reports digitally—a critical skill for today's automated office.

4. Business Literacy (BUSL)
Professional Communication: Successful bookkeepers need more than just math skills. This module focuses on vital communication, comprehension, business ethics, and planning skills needed to function effectively in any professional business environment.

5. Financial Statements (FNST)
The Big Picture: You will move beyond daily transactions to mastering the creation of a company’s core financial reports. This module teaches you how to draft and interpret Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements. This is a high-value skill that allows you to present a complete, compliant view of a company’s financial health.

6. Cost and Management Accounting (CMGT)
Strategic Insight: This module is key to decision-making. You will learn how to analyze costs, calculate profitability, and apply budgeting techniques. This allows you to advise management on pricing, cost reduction, and maximizing business efficiency, transforming you from a recorder of transactions into a strategic partner.
